Paris Human Rights Mobile Exhibit Brings Human Rights Education to the Public

A visible human rights mobile exhibit was held in Paris on 9 May, bringing civic education directly to residents and visitors in one of the city’s busy public areas. The initiative, described in more detail here: Paris Human Rights Mobile Exhibit Brings Civic Education to a Busy Public Space, involved around 15 volunteers who distributed approximately 700 flyers inviting people to visit the tent and 800 booklets explaining human rights and the history behind them.

Presented through a clearly visible mobile stand, the activity attracted the attention of many passers-by throughout the day. Visitors were able to receive educational materials, view displays and speak with volunteers about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the importance of making fundamental rights understandable to people of all ages and backgrounds. The timing of the event, on Europe Day, gave the initiative a wider civic meaning, connecting human rights education with European values such as dignity, freedom, equality, democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights.

The Paris exhibit formed part of the broader human rights education work supported by members and groups of the Church of Scientology, inspired by the writings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. It also reflected the wider EU Values campaign promoted by Scientology Europe, which presents European values as principles that become stronger when citizens understand them and apply them in daily life. Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the European Union, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the United Nations, underlined that human rights become meaningful news eugene when they are understood not only by institutions, but also by ordinary people.

With a practical street-level format, the volunteers helped make the subject of human rights more accessible. The initiative highlighted the role of civic education in strengthening respect for human dignity, freedom of conscience and responsibility in diverse European societies.
